Who's Who - Look out for these familiar faces!

Bride

Tenzin Metok Sither was born in Kollegal, a Tibetan settlement but raised in Kodaikanal in South India. She attended the international boarding school there and then studied in Germany (International University Bremen), the US (Rice University Texas), and the UK (London School of Economics and BPP Law School). She currently works as an Adjudicator for the Financial Ombudsmann. She enjoys baking, wrapping gifts and making sandwiches for Alan.

Groom

Alan was born in Pontypool, Wales and raised in Peckham, South London. He attended St. Dunstans and then graduated from University College London. He currently works as the UK Business Systems Manager for Tullow Oil, He enjoy running, sports, travelling, and drawing pictures on Metok when she is sleeping.

Bride’s Mother

Tsering Dolkar Sither was born in Tibet and raised in India. She was educated in Northern India and then moved to South to work as a teacher for over 20 years before starting up her own business, the Shangri –La shop in Kodaikanal.

 

Bride’s Father

Sither (yes my father has only one name which we converted into a surname) was born in Tibet and moved to India with his family. He was educated in Northern India and the US and has worked as a Physical Educations Teacher for the international school in Kodaikanal for over 30 years. He is known to be able to beat his children at most sports and could do hand stands and back flips a few years ago!

Groom’s Mother

Ming Ying was born and raised in Hong Kong and then moved to the UK as a bride. She raised the children and worked at the House Lee takeway that she and Alan’s dad set up in Peckham. Metok learnt many delicious recipes from her mother in law.

 

Groom’s Father

Kwok Hung was born and raised in Hong Kong and then moved to the UK. He worked as a chef for the takeaway business he set up in Peckham. In his free time, he loves to sing karoake and play mahjong.

 

 

Bridesmaids

Linda Edward, or known fondly as "Eddie" is Metok’s oldest friend. They have been best friends since they were 5 years old and even shared the same yearbook page. They spent their chlldhood reading Gokulaam, learning pig latin, not-really-camping-if-you-have-two-cooks at Berijam Lake and sneaking meat into Yoga ashrams. They played varsity volleyball and hockey together and Eddie is a basket ball star in her own right. Eddie now works as a Sales Executive for an automobile firm in the US.

Tenkey Ngodup met Metok when they were 19 years old doing an internship in Washington DC. They realised that Tenkey's mum and Metok's mum had been best friends but had lost contact for 20 years, only to be reunited through the friendship of their daughters. Tenkey is a development consultant for the UN and the World Bank and lives in Mumbai with her husband Gautam.

Pauline Lee AKA Porky or Nuggets, is Alan’s younger sister. As a child, she was known as the “road runner.” She enjoys photography, snowboarding, making jewellery and eating Metok's 'mookies". She works for a hedge fund in London. 

 

Julia Lee is Alan’s younger sister, the youngest of the three Lee kids. She enjoys yoga, card making and travelling on holidays. She works for the National Health Service at London Bridge, just down the road from where Alan and Metok live.

 

 

Groomsmen

Jigme Sither is Metok’s younger brother. Known as the athletic one in the family, he excels in gymnastics, soccer, track and field and any sport he has ever tried. He studied Computer Studies at Christ College and worked for a year at InfoSys. He will start his studies here in the UK in September and he enjoys Ultimate Frisbee and plays soccer regularly.

Ola Sither means “little one” in Tibetan and he is the youngest of the Sither kids. He studies Business Management at Christ College in Bangalore. Ola enjoys soccer, reading books and the news.

 

Kit Tsoi met Alan through skiing and Kit attended the same university as Metok. Kit shares Metok’s passion for wrapping paper and Alan’s passion for running and keeping fit. The bride and groom will be taking tips from Kit on how to pose for cameras.

 

Raymond Lee is Best Man and considered to be a loyal friend who gets drunk on one beer. Alan was Ray’s best man at his wedding three years ago. Alan met Ray through family friends. Ray is the proud father of an adorable little boy, Ryan.
